“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” – But is it really?

Two “designers” in Second Life started their brands to educate the residents of Second Life in fashion and style. Both were accused to copy designs from real life designers or from other “designers” in Second Life.

Both could get away with it without reaching any clarifications because of a strong network of supporters like Maddox DuPont (MAD Agency), Frolic Mills & Cheri Parkers (Best of Boulevard), EmilyC Carnell (Modavia) and some other people. It seems like all together they try to define what “truth”, “integrity” and “reputation” is. They build up a huge marketing network and award themself and each other to blind us.

But could they really fool us? Us, as the customers in Second Life?

Let’s have a look at these pictures and forge our own opinion about style, fashion and beauty:

Is that style & fashion? Is it beauty? Does their personality shine through? No one but YOU decide!

Seriously, do you not know that his horse has been beaten, revived, pummeled, revived, and so on and so on. You really want to go there again. Are you that desperate for readers? Why don’t you post on something like all the idiots who go t hair fair all blinged out and with a thousand prims on.

This blog is a total waste of time.

Comes across like the tired rants of a desperate, failing/failed Second Life business person. How close am I?

Are these commenters hostile much lol? It’s a personal blog, she can voice her opinion like anyone on their own blog. Personally I’ve wondered the same thing myself.Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder that’s for certain. BUT when claiming publicly that you have exquisite taste and training and experience beyond everyone else and you better put your literal best face on or at least expect people to express their confusion.

Bianca Foulon – “I have been designing in RL for over 20 years and as such am a rarity in SL. Most designers know Photoshop but not fashion.” Oh goodness -curls up at her feet and drools- Tell me more! Please. So some withered crone, who MIGHT BE a failed RL designer, got a putter and is better than all of the rest of us. Ummmm… No.

And Minnu? LMFAO is this fashion for the “alien nation” sim or what? PinchedLizzardFace.com? What a freak!!!

The Fashion Elite need to be taken down a peg, No Several. Sl should be about inclusiveness, not elitism. Let all their fanbois and alts say what they want here, all your points are great. Keep up the good work.

I left my comment because the blogger is saying that they started their business to educate. Both designers never stated that as their mission. One of their customers said it, not them, why am I even bothering here it seems I got caught up in giving this blogger, who doesn’t have a clue, attention. This blog is a waste of time and is just trying to bring something up that has already been discussed so many times. Let it go already. And in any society yo will find elitism instead of worrying about who is elite and who is not why not just direct your energy into doing your own thing instead of being jealous of those that are doing their own thing. So as someone else said STFU!

Comment by Dead Horse!!

Minnu Palen stated exactly what I quoted and so did Bianca Foulon.

I did quite see clearly both quoting those lines in various places “Dead Horse”. Copying RL fashion or stealing from Renderosity creators and then passing it off as your own is most definitely not high fashion or innovative, it’s merely being a sheep at best, and a thief at worst.

and let me just say, nobody drags down real creative people in SL, people that stand outside of RL fashion.

I am curious who writes this blog? And how can I contact them if I believe a designer is involved in unethical copying and needs to be exposed?

Comment by Anony

Jesus, look at the text this fruitloop has at the top of the page. It’s vindictive, obsessive lunacy under the guise of fighting some sort of moral crusade.

There are ways of presenting a blog such as this, but the creator has drastically misjudged it if you ask me. Most visitors will be alienated before they’ve finished reading the header!

Dang.. at the very least spell my name right. :)

Can I say get a life?

Wow, anonymous comments I understand, but an anonymous blogger? You won’t stand behind what you say, so how can anyone think you have any integrity or authority on this. A shameless ploy for hits on our blog, so apptly named. Cats? Try Catty. Next time try sinking your claws into something actually newsworthy or topical instead of reahashing hot button issues that have been done to death. Sad.

I am very outspoken, and many people may disagree with my point of view, but I doubt they have any issue with my right to say it, and most respect the fact that putting your name on the line means you aren’t aftraid to express yourself and face possible backlash.

Can I feature you on my nameless cowards blog?

Can we please differentiate between the very serious issue of content theft and the completely silly non-issue of whether you think these avis are attractive?

Boy, people are defensive about the “educate you about fashion” thing. It’s marketing, hon! Why take it so seriously?

Every time I hear a call for inclusiveness, I can’t help but wonder if this includes the masses that are blinged out and tarted up to the nines. Why don’t you just admit that you’re as elitist as anyone, but that you’d prefer a different elite to be the ones educating the unwashed heathens about fashion?

Comment by Shimere Felisimo

1. It’s funny that people who do not agree with the stated facts start like “get a life” or “direct your energy into doing your own thing” instead of correcting the statements if they’re not true.

2. This “obsessive lunacy” is nothing but the answer to the obsessive marketing lunacy of some “fashion people”. Why take it so seriously?

3. You don’t need to know a name to read the facts. And you do not need to know a name to think someone has integrity or authority on this. I will not post any informations you would not be able to verify by yourself. I don’t state that I have integrity or authority on this. I do not state anything about my reputation. People will decide about it by themself, verifying the facts.

4. You do not need to agree with the stated opinion here. But take this obviously and obsessive lunacy as a bit of caustic and disturbed humour. I like laughing about myself the most and sometimes it turns into “oh my god” ;)

5. That’s a good point, Shimere. But I do not consider myself as an elitist. I consider myself as a customer. I will post pictures and text about things I see and read. Of course, it’s my own opinion no one needs to share but the facts will be verifiable by everyone.

Hey deadhorse, I realy don’t understand the point in posting to a blog to tell them that their point has allready been talked about. Ummm so, move on. I know I havn’t talked about this issue before. So add to the conversation or don’t bother hitting enter. Last time I checked this is what blogs are for.

OMG! Its Anonymous Morph! And now you have an ENTIRE BLOG devoted to your bizarre obsession with Maddox DuPont! Way to go!

Comment by Annyka

The success of these crappy blogs depends on how negative they are towards others. The more negativity the more traffic. And just note that there is no “about us” on this blog meaning who knows who this evil person is. But one thing is sure he/she thrives on bashing people that have businesses, successful businesses in SL. One suggestion people… Just ignore these crap, erase the bookmark, and don’t come back. Is the only way to deal with this. Goodbye.
